Type a PMS number, like 101 C, 286 or Cool Gray 5, to see its Robison-Anton Polyester 40 thread.

Find the matching embroidery thread

Enter a hex code (or several, separated by commas, spaces or new lines), or an RGB or CMYK colour.

Reading the results

RGB and CMYK are turned into a screen colour before matching. CMYK is read as printed on coated paper with the Coated FOGRA39 profile (ISO 12647-2, the usual standard for offset printing, and Adobe's default in Europe), shown and matched as its screen colour. CMYK made for another press or paper (for example GRACoL or uncoated) can differ.

ΔE is the CIEDE2000 colour difference between your colour and the thread's screen colour. Under 1 the eye sees no difference; under 2 only a trained eye sees one side by side; under 3.5 the difference is slight; above 5 it is a different colour.

A thread's colour on screen is an approximation: dye lots, sheen and the fabric all change how it looks once stitched. Use these matches as a starting point and check them against a physical thread card before production.

Colour data: thread numbers, names and screen colours for Isacord 40 (390 colours) and Madeira Polyneon 40 (412 colours), as compiled by the DigitEMB Thread Color Matcher (digitemb.com, October 2026) from the makers' reference charts. Unofficial; keep to personal or internal use. Thread brand names belong to their owners.

Robison-Anton Polyester 40: the PMS to thread chart (267 matches) and the thread swatch colours are from The Thread Exchange (thethreadexchange.com, "Pantone To R/A Polyester Conversion" and the R/A Polyester catalogue, October 2026). Threads on the chart that have no swatch there are shown in the colour of their Pantone. A PMS that is not on the chart gets the nearest threads by colour instead. Unofficial; keep to personal or internal use.
